"Digital literacy is part of basic competences such as reading and writing and that this is the message the Commission is conveying to all European citizens; in this difficult economic situation many workers will need to be re-trained and the digital competences they can gain will help them find new opportunities for a better life."
Jose Manuel Barroso President of European Commission |
|
"ECDL is an important standard adopted by many European states within their e-Government programs. The European Commission has supported and will continue to offer its support to the Romanian Government in such initiatives as the implementation of the ECDL standard. One of the consequences of an increase in computer usage in public administration structures is the eradication of corruption"
Jonathan Scheele Former Head of Delegation of European Commission in Romania |
|
"Nowadays, the computer is used more and more both at work and at home. In the work place, it used to be the case that the computer made the difference between the efficient employee - and a better paid employee, for that - and the inefficient one. Today this difference is made by how efficiently you use a computer. For that, you need basic knowledge. Since nobody has the time to test the knowledge of a candidate before hiring, it is advisable that this knowledge be certified. This is why the ECDL is a necessary prerequisite for getting a good job in the EU"
Varujan Pambuccian Member of the IT&C Commission - Chamber of Deputies |
